• Eligibility : The Ultimate Friends Fan Sweepstakes (the "Sweepstakes") is open only to legal residents of the continental United States who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of America Online, Inc., Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (Warner Bros.) , as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee, are not eligible. Subject to all federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations. Void in Alaska , Hawaii , Puerto Rico and where prohibited by law.
• Sponsor: The Sweepstakes is sponsored by America Online, Inc., 22000 AOL Way , Dulles , VA 20166 ("Sponsor").
• Agreement to Official Rules: Participation in the Sweepstakes constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
• Timing: The Sweepstakes begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") on February 26, 2004 , and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on April 4, 2004 (the "Sweepstakes Period"). Entries received prior to or after the Sweepstakes Period will be disqualified. There will be six (6) Sweepstakes Weeks during the Sweepstakes Period. For the purposes of calculating time during the Sweepstakes Period, a "Sweepstakes Week" begins each Thursday during the Sweepstakes Period at 12:00:00 am ET and ends on the following Sunday at 11:59:59 pm ET.
• How to Enter: Go to AOL Keyword: Friends or http://channelevents.aol.com/tv/friends/friends_novid.adp , complete the Official Entry Form and answer the weekly trivia question. Once you click on "Enter," you will receive one (1) Sweepstakes entry.
Limit one (1) entry per Sweepstakes Week for a maximum total of six (6) entries in the Grand Prize drawing. Any use of robotic, repetitive, automatic, programmed or similar entry methods or agents will void all entries by that entrant.
• Selection of Winners:
Six (6) Weekly Prize Winners (one per Sweepstakes Week) will be selected on or about the Monday following each Sweepstakes Week in random drawings from among all eligible entries that contain the correct answer to the weekly trivia questions. Odds of winning depend on the number of correctly answered eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Week.
One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected on or about April 5, 2004 from among all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. All eligible entries have an equal chance of winning the Grand Prize, regardless of whether or not the weekly trivia questions were answered correctly. Decisions of Sponsor are final and binding.
• Notification of Potential Winners: Entrant who is notified that his/her entry was selected in a random drawing is a Potential Winner. Potential Winner is not a winner until he/she has returned all required documentation and eligibility has been verified by Sponsor. Potential Winner must comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. Potential Weekly Winners will be notified by phone and/or e-mail on or about the Monday following each Sweepstakes Week. If a Potential Weekly Winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the first attempt to contact him/her, an alternate entrant will be selected in his/her place at random from among all eligible entries containing the correct answer to the trivia question received by the weekly deadline. Limit one (1) weekly prize per household.
Potential Grand Prize Winner will be notified by phone or e-mail on or about April 5, 2004 . If the Potential Grand Prize Winner cannot be contacted within three (3) days after the first attempt to contact him/her, an alternate entrant will be selected in his/her place at random from among all eligible entries received. Except where prohibited, Potential Grand Prize Winner must sign and return to Sponsor, within 48 hours of being notified, an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release in order to claim his/her Prize. Potential Grand Prize Winner's travel companions, or the parent or legal guardian if a companion is a minor, must sign a consent to Publicity, Liability Waiver and Travel Release form prior to traveling. Failure to return documents as specified, or if prize notification is returned as undeliverable, will result in the entrant being disqualified, and the prize will be awarded to a potential alternate winner.
• Prizes: GRAND PRIZE - One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a trip for six (6) to Los Angeles . Prize includes round-trip coach airfare for winner and five (5) friends from a major airport nearest each traveler's residence (in the continental U.S.) to Los Angeles, hotel accommodations for 3 days/2 nights; video shoot of winner and five (5) friends at the Friends fountain, ground transportation between airport and hotel as well as the video shoot and hotel, Friends: The Complete First Six Seasons DVD set and six (6) Target Friends gift packs. Approximate Retail Value ("ARV"): $7,480. Winner and travel companions must be able to travel between April and June. Exact dates of travel to be determined by Sponsor. All other expenses and costs not expressly listed above including, but not limited to, ground transportation not specified above, meals, beverages, purchases made during trip, taxes and gratuities, are the winner's and travel companions' sole responsibility. Winner's travel companions must be 18 years of age or older. Winner and travel companions must travel on the same dates . If major airport nearest the winner's residence is the Los Angeles International Airport , Grand Prize will not include airfare and no substitution or compensation will be provided. Flight details are subject to space availability and airline carrier's regulations and conditions apply. The trip may not be combined with any other offer and travel may not qualify for frequent flyer miles. Any picture identification requirements associated with air travel are the winner's and travel companions' responsibility. Sponsor is not responsible for lost or mutilated travel certificates and none will be replaced.
WEEKLY PRIZES : Six (6) Weekly Prize Winners [one (1) per Sweepstakes Week] will each receive Friends: The Complete First Six Seasons DVD set and a Target Friends gift pack ARV: $230/each.
Specifics of all prizes are in Sponsor's sole discretion. Prizes are nontransferable and non-refundable and must be accepted as awarded. No cash or other substitution may be made, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize with another prize of greater or equal value in the event that a prize or portion of prize is unavailable. Winners are solely responsible for any and all applicable fees and taxes associated with prize receipt and use.
• Publicity: Except where prohibited, participation in the Sweepstakes constitutes winner's consent to Sponsor's, Warner Bros.', and their respective designees' use of winner's name, likeness, voice, opinions, biographical information and state of residence for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration.
• General Conditions: Sponsor reserves the right to terminate, cancel, suspend and/or modify the Sweepstakes if any fraud, virus or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper play of the Sweepstakes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. In such event, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prizes at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. In case of a dispute as to the owner of an online entry, online entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address from which the entry is made. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.
• Release: By participation in the Sweepstakes and receipt of a prize, winner agrees to release and hold harmless Sponsor, Warner Bros., the National Broadcasting Company, Inc. and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Sweepstakes or receipt or use of any prize.
• Limitations of Liability: Sponsor is each not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the Sweepstakes. Sponsor does not assume responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line-systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software or failure of email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to entrant's or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in the Sweepstakes.
• Disputes: Except where prohibited, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the Commonwealth of Virginia, or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the Commonwealth of Virginia.
